Hilliard’s Quadruple Rushing Scores Help Wheelers Weather the Storm, 47-30

MAY 12th, 2023 MOLINE, IL -

The Quad City Steamwheelers prepared to welcome the Sioux Falls Storm in a high-stakes contest that

promised to keep fans on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

The Steamwheelers opened up the first series with a QB EJ Hilliard finding WR Mike Carrigan for the

score. PAT good, Wheelers 7-0.

Despite the promising drive by the Sioux Falls' offense, DL Krystapher Oakley came up with the sack on

3rd down to have the Storm settle for a field goal. Wheelers 7-3.

Hilliard's pass over the middle was intercepted by DB Eugene Ford.

Trying to turn the quick possession change into points, QB Lorenzo Brown Jr. pass fell into the hands of

LB Marquis Hendrix.

A quick back shoulder pass on the goal line to WR Keyvan "Stud" Rudd for the touchdown. PAT good,

Wheelers 14-3.

Sioux Falls started their next possession with good field position after the kick off return of 33-yards from

RB Bryson Denley. Hendrix backed up the Storm offense with a sack. The 4th down pass play swatted

at the goal line for the turnover on downs.

Using the 1st half momentum, Hilliard called his own number and rumbled into the endzone. PAT good,

Wheelers 21-3.

One play, one score from Brown Jr. to WR Draysean Hudson. PAT good, Wheelers 21-10.

After a long drive for the Steamwheelers, a field goal attempt was no good.

Last chance effort before half had Brown Jr. using his legs for the touchdown. PAT no good, Wheelers

21-16.

Getting the second half underway, the Storm punched it in from a Denley jet sweep. PAT good, Storm

23-21.

LB Undraez Lilly got the sack to set up a 3rd and long for the Steamwheelers. Hilliard rushed in for his

second score of the game. PAT blocked, Wheelers 27-23.

DB Darreon Jackson with the one handed interception and return of 28-yards to swing the momentum

back to Quad City.

Attempting to extend their lead, Hilliard did just that with the hat trick rushing touchdowns. PAT good,

Wheelers 34-23.

The Storm matched the score with one of their own, a Brown Jr. to WR Donnie Corley Jr. touchdown.

PAT good, Wheelers 34-30.
