The Quad City Steamwheelers entered professional football in 2000 as a member of the Arena Football League's AF2. There, the team won 3 Division Championships (2001, 2003, 2004) and 2 League Championships (2000, 2001).
 

In 2018, the Steamwheelers joined the Champions Indoor Football (CIF), finished with an 8-4 record and made the playoffs during their first season in the league.
 

In 2019, the Steamwheelers joined the Indoor Football League (IFL) and finished with a 7-8 record in 2019-2020 before entering a state of dormancy due to the pandemic. In 2022, the Steamwheelers returned, winning the Eastern Conference Championship and earning a birth in the IFL National Championship game.  In 2025, the Steamwheelers clinched the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference after an impressive 11-5 season.
 

During their three full seasons in the IFL, the team has been named Franchise of the Year (2022) and Social Media Team of the Year (2023). As well as, being accounted for 2 IFL Offensive Player of the Year awards (2019, 2022), 9 All-IFL selections, 4 IFL All-Rookie selections, 13 IFL Player of the Week awards and more.

League Awards

  • 2019 Adam Pringle Award - Quinton Pedroza
    • "Awarded to player or coach demonstrating outstanding service and dedication to their community."
  • 2019 Community Relations Award
    • "This award is given to the team that exemplified outstanding service and dedication to their surrounding community."
  • 2022 Franchise of the Year
    • "This award is given to the best overall team during the 2022 season. Factors to consider are attendance, sales, public relations, marketing, efforts to improve the IFL, performance on the field, community involvement, participation on league matters, and overall representation of the IFL."
  • 2023 Social Media Team of the Year
    • "This award is given to the team with the best social media presence. Content design, quantity, creativity, and fan interaction are considered."
  • 2024 John Pettit Person of the Year Award - Doug Bland
    • "The John Pettit Person of the Year award goes to the individual who goes above and beyond to show both their team and their community exemplary leadership. The recipient of this award showed true care for their team and community, keeping the best interest of their team, the community, and the IFL at the root of their efforts."
  • 2025 John Pettit Person of the Year Award - Destiny Brown
    • "The John Pettit Person of the Year award goes to the individual who goes above and beyond to show both their team and their community exemplary leadership. The recipient of this award showed true care for their team and community, keeping the best interest of their team, the community, and the IFL at the root of their efforts."
  • 2025 Best Dressed
    •  In addition to not receiving any league fines for uniform infractions, the sQUAD also wowed the IFL fan-base with some of the best looking jerseys the league has ever seen.

    • ROUND 1 - 39-38 W (OT) vs. the defending IFL Champion Massachusetts Pirates
    • ROUND 2 - 48-41 W vs. the No. 1 seed Frisco Fighters in the Eastern Conference Championship
 

IFL Offensive Player of the Year Awards 

  • QB - E.J. Hilliard Jr. (2019)
    • Led IFL in passing yards (2,739), passing attempts (330), and average passing yards per game (195.6)
    • Finished second in the IFL in TD Passes (59), passing completions (205), and efficiency rating (187.0)
    • Rushed for 462 yards (7th in IFL) 
    • Rushed for 18 TDs (6th in IFL)
    • Thew only 3 interceptions during the regular season, tied for the fewest in the IFL
  • QB - E.J. Hilliard Jr. (2022)
    • In only 13 games
    • 1,810 passing yards (7th in IFL), 35 passing touchdowns (7th), and 162.9 QB efficiency rating
    • 681 rushing yards (8th), 25 rushing touchdowns (5th), and 5.5 YPC
 
 

First Team All-IFL Selections 

  • 2019
    • WR - Keyvan Rudd 
    • WR - Quinton Pedroza 
      • In their first season of IFL play, the Quad City Steamwheelers had one of the most exciting offenses in the league. WR Quinton Pedroza and WR Keyvan Rudd become the first wide receiver duo in IFL history to both earn First Team honors. The duo combined for 1,842 receiving yards and 42 touchdowns this season.
  • 2023
    • DB - Darreon Jackson 
      • Jackson had a career year in 2023 for Quad City and was a big part of why the Steamwheelers grabbed a spot in the playoffs. He had three touchdowns off of his league leading eight interceptions. He also finished 7th in total tackles with 74 and 2nd in pass break-ups with 22.
  • 2024
    • WR/KR - Jarrod Harrington
      • Coming off a torn ACL, Jarrod Harrington would prove he is the most dangerous play maker in the IFL with the ball in his hands. Putting up 440 receiving yards on 38 receptions as a receiver, including eight touchdowns while adding 57 yards and a touchdown on the ground. But his stats as a kick returner were historic including a league best 1232 return yards which was achieved on a league best 23.9 yards per return. Harrington also added 4 return TDs, including a 58-yard return vs. the Sioux Falls Storm.
  • 2025
    • OL - Joe Krall
      • Krall helped lead a Wheelers' offensive line that allowed only 11 sacks all season, the fourth least amount in the league. In part due to his help, Krall helped the Steamwheelers' offense rush for an average of 92.8 yards per game, which was fifth most in the league, and averaged 6.1 yards per play, tied for the second highest in the league. The Wheelers led the league in YPC, gaining 4.8 yards per rush. 18 games played / 18 starts
    • DL - KeShaun Moore
      • Stats: 16 games played, 68 tackles, 20 TFL, nine sacks, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovered
    • LB - Bubba Arslanian
      • Stats: 16 games played, 125 tackles, seven TFL, 1.5 sacks, two fumbles recovered, four interceptions

Second Team All-IFL Selections 

  • 2019
    • QB - E.J. Hilliard Jr. (2019)
      • 2,780 passing yards, 58 passing touchdowns, and ONLY 3 interceptions.
      • 462 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns 
    • DB - Danzel McDaniel (2019)
  • 2023
    • DL - Jaylin Swan (2023)
      • In 14 games, Swan finished the season with 33.5 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks and 2 blocked kicks. 
  • 2024
    • DL - Keshaun Moore (2024)
      • During the 2024 season, Moore was defensively dominant over his opponents, picking up 41 total tackles and 17 tackles for loss for 57 yards, alongside 5 sacks on the year.
    • K - Kyle Kaplan (2024)
      • Kaplan ended the season as one of the best kickers in the league, kicking 57.4% on FG attempts and making 27 field goals. He was also lights out when it came to extra point attempts, making 74/78 throughout the season. Kaplan nailed a league best 53-yard field goal to win the game vs. Iowa on May 17th.
  • 2025
    • DB - Camron Harrell
      • Stats: 18 games played, 54 tackles, 0.5 TFL, one forced fumble, two fumbles recovered, six interceptions, 27 passes defended, three touchdowns
    • K - Kyle Kaplan
      • Stats: 18 games played, 18/36 FGs, 84/97 PATs, 22 deuces, 138 points (182 including deuces)

  • 2022
    • OL - Joe Krall 
    • C - Hunter Nobbs 
      • Nobbs was the center piece of the offensive line for the Steamwheelers who finished third in rushing with 1,651 yards and 48 touchdowns.
    • LB - Nate Sheets 
      • Sheets led the league in tackles with 101.5.
  • 2024
    • DL - KeShaun Moore (2024)
      • During the 2024 season, Moore was defensively dominant over his opponents, picking up 41 total tackles and 17 tackles for loss for 57 yards, alongside 5 sacks on the year.
  • 2025
    • DB - Chris Chukwuneke
      • 17 games played, 78.5 tackles, three TFL, three interceptions, nine PBUs
    • DL - David Cagle
      • 18 games played, 47 tackles, 10.5 TFL, 6.5 sacks, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries
