Steamwheelers handle Barnstormers rematch with ease

JUNE 24th MOLINE, IL - With the third and final face off between the Quad City Steamwheelers and the Iowa Barnstormers at a split, both teams looked to take the series victory.

Barnstormers opened up the game with a deuce. RB Shane Simpson took the Steamwheelers drive opening play 45 yards to the house. PAT good, Wheelers 7-2.

RB Antonio Wimbush answered with a rushing touchdown of his own. PAT good, Stormers 9-7.

The Steamwheelers matched down the field and capped off the drive with a WR Keyvan Rudd rushing score. PAT good, Wheelers 14-7.

sQuad City defense stood tall forcing a long field attempt which was no good.

A long offensive drive ended with a QB E.J. Hilliard Jr. rushing touchdown. PAT good, Wheelers 21-9.

QB Daniel Smith's end zone pass was intercepted by DB Darreon Jackson.

After forcing the turnover, Simpson shifted his way through defenders all the way in for the score. PAT good, Wheelers 28-9.

The Barnstormers finished off their next drive with a Smith to Wimbush touchdown. PAT good, Wheelers 28-16.

Hilliard led his offense down the field and took it in himself. PAT good, Wheelers 35-16.

A K Gabriel Rui kick blocked by the Wheeler defense and recovered by DB Malik Duncan in the end zone. PAT good, Wheelers 42-16.

Just before the half, Smith rolled out the pocket and connected with WR Caleb Smith for six. PAT good, Wheelers led 42-23 at the half.

Coming back from half, the Quad City defense held the the Barnstormers from scoring after being pushed back to defend deep in their own territory. New signee DB Romon Morris came up with a huge 4th down tackle to give his offense the ball back.

Capitalizing off the momentum shift, Hilliard found WR C.J. Windham in the back of the endzone for a score. PAT missed, Wheelers 48-23.

Needing to generate a scoring drive, Iowa attempted a long field goal on 4th and 20 which was missed wide left.

The Steamwheelers took over possession and capped it off with a Hilliard pass to WR Jeremiah Holloman for a touchdown. PAT good, Wheelers 55-23.

The Barnstormers converted their second Smith to Smith score of the night. Two point conversion attempt was no good. Wheelers 55-29.

Hilliard used both his arm and legs and powered his way into the end zone. Two point conversion attempt was no good. Wheelers 61-29.

K Chase Allbaugh would hit a deuce on the following kickoff capping off the scoring for the Wheelers.
