presented by Quad City Times

5/30/2024 8:41:00 PM

Steamwheler Fans! After a long bye week, your Quad City Steamwheelers are recharged and ready to walk into the Green Bay Blizzard's house for a Friday night Indoor War!

This game will be broadcasted on Caffine TV as well as the official IFL YouTube Channel and kickoff will be at 7:05 pm.

About The Steamwheelers

The sQUAD is coming off an insane walkoff win over the Iowa Barnstormers that gave them back to back wins including one over the Sioux Falls Storm in the game prior. Kyle Kaplan kicked a huge 49-yard FG to bag the win for the Steamwheelers, 57-55. Kaplan finished the game 5-6 on FG attempts and 6-6 on PATs. QB Mike Iwrin has seemed to get more comfortable as the starter, throwing 2 passing touchdowns, 1 to Ka'Ron Ashley and another to Edward Vander who also picked up 2 rushing TDs of his own. The Steamwheelers will return DJ Morgan to their lineup on Friday. DB Suni Lane will also be dressing, hoping to bring some physicality to special teams.

About the Blizzard

The Blizzard are currently on a 3 game winning streak and are looking to continue it over the sQUAD this week. Their last game was also against the Iowa barnstormers and they secured a season sweep over Iowa with this win, 54-40. The Blizzard were led by QB Max Meylor who threw for over 200 yards along with 4 passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown for himself in the process.

Last Time Out

The last time these two teams met the Blizzard came out on top, 32-24. This game was a battle that saw the Steawheelers get stopped by the Blizzard defense in a possibly game tying situation, being sacked on their last drive in the 4th quarter.

Players to Watch For

Offense

Harry Ballard - WR // GBB - Ballard showed his offensive prowess against Iowa by totaling 124 receiving yards on 7 receptions, picking up 2 touchdowns in route to a win.

Raheem Harvey - WR // QCS - The Largo, FL native has been the Steamwheelers reliable utility man this season thus far. The man known as 'Heem' by the fans has an efficient game that doesn't always show up on the stat sheet, been on the lookout for number 9 to make a stellar catch on offense, make a big stop on defense, or gain ground for the Wheelers on a kick return. Harvey spent most of last year playing for the Blizzard.

Defense

Melik Owens - DL // QCS - Melik 'The Freak' Owens has been making offenses pay for even thinking about running his way during a game. The Houston, TX native has picked up 33 total tackles so far this season, including 19 solo tackles and 14 assisted tackles. Keep an eye on Owens to continue putting pressure on the quarterback come Friday night.

Julius Wilkerson - LB // GBB - Green Bay's top linebacker made a huge impact on the defensive end in their last outing. Wilkerson picked up 8 total tackles including 2 solo tackles and 6 assisted tackles. He also picked up a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss in the win against the Barnstormers.
